Kathleen M. Doyle has been named to the deanâs list in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performances at Ithaca College for the fall 2000 semester. Miss Doyle is a junior physical therapy major in Ithacaâs five-year Master of Science degree program. She is a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School.
Ryan M. Henry, son of Deborah and J. Robert Henry of Newtown, attained high honors for the fall 2000 semester at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Mr Henry is a senior majoring in political science. He is a community senator and a member of the Marist football team. He plans to attend law school in the fall.
James Morley, son of Mr and Mrs James T. Morley, Jr, of Newtown, is a recipient of the deanâs award for academic excellence during the fall 2000 semester at Colgate University, where he is a member of the class of 2002. He is a 1998 graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall and is concentrating in English and economics at Colgate.
The College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University announced that Jaclyn Shea of Sandy Hook, who is majoring in music education, and Kate Yackel of Newtown, who is studying music industry, both were named to the deanâs list for the 2000 fall semester.
Tufts University announced the deanâs list for the fall/winter 2000 semester. The following Newtown students earned this academic honor, which requires a grade point average of 3.4 or greater: Lynn A. Cooper, Erika B. Gellert, and Brian R. Powers.
Jessica Singer of Newtown was named to the deanâs list at Canisius College for the fall 2000 semester. She was awarded honors, and is a freshman Sociology Spanish Social Studies major.

Cadet Greg Whalen, son of John and Kelly Whalen of Newtown, recently was promoted to Sergeant First Class at the Missouri Military Academy. In addition, Cadet Whalen received the Parade Ribbon for participating in the University of Missouri football game parade, was listed on the honorable mention roll for his academic and military grades, was awarded the Maroon Bar for a perfect disciplinary record, and earned the Evensong Ribbon for participating in the Evensong Service.
