Trailer Park Incident

Results In Six Charges

Police have charged a local man with six offenses stemming from a January incident at the Meadowbrook Terrace Mobile Home Park at 55 Sugar Street (Route 302).

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Donald Ferenz, 44, of Unit 61 at the trailer park turned himself over to police on the morning of February 13.

Police charged Ferenz with three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, and with one count each of threatening, breach of peace, and interfering with police.

On the night of January 3, police evacuated a section of the trailer park after Ferenz threatened to commit suicide with a rifle. There were no injuries or shots fired during the incident.

After about 90 minutes, Ferenz surrendered to police and walked out of the trailer without the rifle, police have said. About 12 police responded to the scene, including four state police.

Because there was the potential for gunfire, police decided to evacuate a section of the trailer park. Trailer #61 is at the rear of the densely developed area.

The tense situation held the potential for injury to residents of the trailer park, to police, and to Ferenz, according to police.

Following his arrest on February 13, Ferenz was arraigned on the charges in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
