Boys 7th
Pomperaug 50, Newtown 44 â Newtown battled back from an 11-point deficit. but Pomperaug held on for the victory on their home floor. David Lucia and Taylor Steimle canned 12 points each to lead Newtown as Dan Gallagher chipped in five points. The defense was led by Michael Lengel, Anthony Berarducci and Trey Trudell.
Newtown 50, Easton 19 â Newtown had no problem shutting down a taller Easton team to secure the victory. Taylor Steimle popped in 15 points as Anthony Berarducci and Kyle Wilcox combined for 11 more. The unbreakable defense was led by Austin Bonadio, Dominick Fedak and Josh Barrett.
Newtown 49, Bethel 33 â Newtown broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter as David Lucia canned 10 points. Josh Barrett added nine and Trey Trudell contributed seven. Michael Lengel, Anthony Berarducci and Austin Bonadio paced the D.
Southbury 51, Newtown 48 â Great defense and 14-of-23 shooting from the foul line was not enough for Newtown to secure the victory. Taylor Steimle had 16 points to pace the Newtown offense while David Lucia dropped in 13 and Josh Barrett contributed seven. Defense was led by Dan Gallagher, Kyle Wilcox and Dominick Fedak.

Ridgefield 50, Newtown 33 â Mike Davis canned eight points in a loss to Ridgefield. Virgil Procaccini, Connor Gallagher and Jim Parker combined for 12 points and played well on both ends of the floor. Drew Tarantino anchored the D.
Newtown 41, Southbury 29 â Matt Mossbarger and Brian (Bubba) LeBlanc combined for 16 points and played fine overall games to lead Newtown past Southbury. Jonah Muniz and Grant Ricketts combined for eight points and made several steals. Matt Hoyt and Chase Wurtz and played well defensively.
Greenwich 53, Newtown 33 â Newtown came up a little short against a very tough opponent. Matt Mossbarger played well, leading Newtown in scoring with 12 markers while Drew Tarantino played a strong overall game, finishing with seven points. Virgil Procaccini and Jim Parker combined for eight points and played well on both ends of the floor. Jonah Muniz played a strong defensive game.
Danbury 31, Newtown 28 â Newtown let an early 10-point lead slip away in a tight loss to Danbury. Matt Mossbarger was outstanding, leading the team with 13 points. Mike Davis and Matt Hoyt combined for nine points as Chase Wurtz and Connor Gallagher played well at the point. Grant Ricketts and Bubba Le Blanc played well defensively.
Weston 42, Newtown 22 â A strong defensive minded Weston team shut down Newtown. Bubba Le Blanc led Newtown with six points while Connor Gallagher played a fine overall game, knocking down four points. Drew Tarantino played well defensively.

Southbury 15, Newtown 14 â In the second meeting with Southbury, the locals knew what to expect and stayed close to the visiting team. Kerry Scallon had seven points and Danielle Shine added three to lead Newtown. Mary Joe Rossi dropped in a basket and Rebecca Grant drained two free throws.
Ridgefield 22, Newtown 8 â Jamison Fletcher tossed in four points, Kerry Scallon knocked down a basket and Danielle Shine made two free throws to lead Newtown in a loss to Ridgefield.

The Eugene 40, Fiyatrucks 37 â Amy Kelly scored 18 points and Kristene Salbu added 14 more to lead The Eugene to the win. Olga Virgalla dished off seven assist as Marina Virgalla and Lauren Picerno played well. For the âTrucks, Jen Greenwood tossed in 12 points while Hannah Tenenbaum dropped in 11. Katie Schmidt dished off five assists and Gabby Nastri anchored the D.
Maroon Mongeese 32, Balling Babes 24 â Rachel Maley popped in nine points and Nicole Escoda dished off two assists to lead the Mongeese to the win. For the Babes, Linda Magliocco had a strong game with six points.
Junior Girls
Huskies 21, Knicks 14 â Emma Herring canned 10 points and Suzy Wright grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Huskies to the win. Shannon Paproski dished off four assists while Katie Fossum made four steals. For the Knicks, Deanna Tassinari dropped in eight points as Breanne Lubinsky grabbed seven rebounds. Amanda Stanton had a strong floor game.
Hurricanes 36, Rebels 27 â Tori Picerno scored 12 points and Casey Rutter added 10 more to lead the Hurricanes to the win. Katie Lago and Steph Perotti played well. For the Rebels, Erin Brown had eight points as Courtney Amaral dropped in six..
Da Bears 45, Celtics 31 â Kelly OâConnor scored 17 points to lift Da Bears past the Celtics. Liz Eiseman dished off six assists and Ashley Perry made six steals. For the Celtics, Cady Jackman canned 12 points, Mara Scallon added six and Maggie Korth sparked the D.

Huskies 24, Vols 10 â Kristy Papaj and Kiersten Lynch scored 10 points apiece and Stephanie Zamary grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Huskies to the win. Rachel Maguire (3 rebounds, 3 steals) and Emily Grimes (2 rebounds, 2 steals) played well. For the Vols, Rachel DiVanno had five rebounds and Beth Semosky had a strong floor game.
Lady Hawks 16, Hurricanes 4 â Kelly OâSullivan dropped in eight points and Sara Hasselburger grabbed six rebounds to lead the Hawks. Hope McMorran dished off four assists and Kiely Kuligowski made four steals. For the âCanes, Kristiana Engler scored two points while Sarah Principi, Daisy Young and Haley Dunn played well.
Mercury 30, Gaels 18 â Faaria Ansari and Courtney Escoda tossed in 12 points apiece to heat up the Mercury. Kate McManus and Jane Sclafani sparked the defense with numerous steals as Catherine Neave and Ashley Maturo played well. For the Gaels, Lauren Sarna dropped in six points.
Hurricanes 24, Gaels 7 â Kristiana Engler scored 16 points as the Hurricanes recorded their first win of the season. Bethany Dubois, Lauren Meyer and Heather Leone all had strong games. For the Gaels, Emily Pieretti dropped in two points.
Lady Hawks 28, Jaguars 16 â Caitlin Yakush scored 11 points and Kelly OâSullivan added seven to lead the Hawks. Anna Northrup, Hope McMorran and Mareena Mallory played well. For the Jags, Taylor Brady popped in eight points and Olivia Phenix added six. Valentina Pena and Kristen DeGirolamo played well.
Knicks 29, Liberty 8 â Jessica Gibbons scored 13 points and Lia Tassinari added six to lead the Knicks to the win. Emily Mallen dished off five assists and Caitlyn Gibney made four steals. For the Liberty, Cassie Ekstrom tossed in seven points while Rachel Karnoff had a solid floor game.

Blue Devils 47, Regulators 29 â Reid Schmidt poured in 20 points as the Blue Devils remained undefeated. Chris Erikson, Harry Snellback and Scott Schmidt played well. For the Regulators, Justin Cherry and Brandon Cooper popped in 10 points apiece while Andy Martinez, Harrison Buzzi and Andrew Ryan had strong games.
Huskies 40, Nighthawks 26 â Brandon Marks dropped in 16 points as the Huskies downed the Nighthawks. Devin DiNicola and Stefan Dullinger played well. For the âHawks, Mike Scharfenberg canned 15 points as Colton Sposta, Robbie Hughes and James Pearson played well.
Gunners 42, Grizzlies 19 â Eric Fiore popped in eight points as Ivan Hutchinson and Caleb Rowe had solid floor games to lead the Gunners to the win. For the Grizzlies, Christian Mather scored six points while Brock Chimileski and Nick Madden played well.
Tar Heels 44, Huskies 28 â Pat Mullins scored 14 points to lead the Tar Heels to the win. Jack Champagne, Chase Hutchison and Phillip Hickey had nice performances. For the Huskies, Brandon Marks dropped in nine points while Devil DiNicola, Max Lopez and Mike MacDonald played well.
Raptors 41, Knicks 27 â Myle Lobuglio scored eight points as the Raptors defeated the Knicks. Kevin Shpunt, JP Kitzmiller and Jack Kearney all played well. For the Knicks, Michael Senf dropped in 12 points while Joe Davis, Greg Horne and Patrick Thornberg played well.

Notre Dame 37, Runninâ Rebels 24 â Shay DeMarche posted 13 points to lift Notre Dame past the Rebels. Matt White, Cameron Eiseman, Don Sun and Angel Santos played well. For the Rebels, Brandon Peterson dropped in six points while Alex Romeo, Austin Rafferty and Dom Scarangella had solid floor games.

Rockets 34, Warriors 6 â Connor Roche scored 16 points and dragged down 13 rebounds to lead the Rockets to the win. Max Rucinski (6 assists) and Logan Walsh (5 steals) played well. For the Warriors, Colton Moroney scored four points as Baxter Hankin and Tommy Shaker played well.
Raptors 34, Killer Bees 30 â Julian Dunn poured in 22 points to lift the Raptors to a narrow win. Luke âThe Handleâ Rustici, James âShutdownâ Burdette (6 steals) and CJ Dunn (5 rebounds) had strong games. For the Bees, Kevin Conte canned 18 points as Chris Horkachuck, Joey Carrino and Alex Klang played well.
Knicks 34, Thunder 15 â Jacob Burden canned 12 points and Troy Frangione dished off seven assists to lead the Knicks to the win. Trevor Lopez and Devon Palila (6 rebounds) played well. For the Thunder, Aiden Petershack (3 points, 10 steals, 5 rebounds), Sawyer Conrad and David Corsi had strong floor games.
Nighthawks 19, Wildcats 18 â Jeremy Doski dropped in 10 points as the Nighthawks clipped the Wildcats, Will Swain, Jason Ferarri and Austin Huffman played well. For the âCats, Colin Reilly scored seven points as Patrick Berger, Albert Dean and Akshay Delity had nice performances.
Heat 27, Huskies 15 â Colton Smith scored 14 points as the Heat burned the Huskies. Robbie McCabe and Harry Duffy played well. For the Huskies, Ryan Szalay scored six points as Connor Ryan, Carl Whippie and Peter Manfredonia had solid floor games.
