âUtopiaâ Talk Accents âModernismâ At Corcoran Gallery March 29
AVV 1-24 #685838
WASHINGTON, D.C. â Complementing the Corcoran Gallery of Artâs âModernismâ exhibition, its director and president Paul Greenhalgh will explain the idea of Utopia in art and design in a talk Thursday, March 29, at 7 pm.
Invented during the Renaissance and brought to perfection during the Enlightenment, Utopia is the ultimate modern idea. For several centuries, artists, designers and architects have been inspired by Utopian ideals. Greenhalgh explores this idea of Utopia, which reached a grand climax in the first half of the Twentieth Century and was ultimately abandoned during the Post Modern period.
Preregistration is encouraged for this free program. Corcoran Gallery of Art is at 500 17th Street NW. For more information, 202-639-1700 or www.corcoran.org.
