Burglary Charge
Police said they served an arrest warrant February 23 against James Dennis, 19, listing charges of third-degree burglary and attempted sixth-degree larceny. Police list addresses for Dennis as Houston Avenue, Bridgeport, and 43 Botsford Hill Road, Botsford.
Police said the charges stem from a complaint from a Riverside Road man who said Dennis entered his home last October 16 and attempted to steal a jug of coins and a battery charger.
A codefendant in the case was charged Dec. 19, police said.
Police said they served the arrest warrant against Dennis at Danbury Superior Court and placed a $25,000 bond on him, holding him for arraignment at court that day on the charges.
Vehicle Break-In
Police report that someone sometime between 11 pm February 23 and 9 am February 24 broke the right rear passenger window of a red 1992 Isuzu Rodeo parked at the Newtown Shopping Village parking lot on Queen Street and stole several items from the vehicle.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 426-5841.
Church Hill DUI
Police said they saw motorist Stephen P. Collins, Jr, 21, of 3 Todds Hill Road, Sandy Hook, driving a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse eastbound on Church Hill Road about 1:40 am Feb 24.
Police said Collins failed to drive to the right of the roadâs centerline and traveled straight through the âright turn onlyâ lane at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Commerce Road.
Police said they stopped Collins and gave him field sobriety tests, which he failed. Police said they charged Collins with driving under the influence, plus two other motor vehicle charges.
After processing, police released Collins for a March 8 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Toddy Hill Accident
Police report motorist Stephen C. Bombero, 46, of Monroe was driving a 1995 Eagle Vision on Toddy Hill Road just north of Turkey Roost Road about 8:19 am February 23 when he lost control of the vehicle on the slick roadway, slid off the right road shoulder and struck a utility pole.
Police said Bombero reported neck stiffness but refused medical treatment. Police verbally warned Bombero for making a restricted turn.
SUV Vs SUV
During heavy snowfall about 6:49 pm February 22, a two-vehicle accident occurred on westbound Mt Pleasant Road, east of Hawleyville Road, police said.
Police said a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Donna Tomasko, 54, of 13 New Lebbon Road started to turn left onto Sawmill Road, when a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder driven by James Herity, 50, of 28 Gelding Hill Road, which was traveling behind the Chevrolet, was unable to stop and struck the rear end of the Chevrolet.
There were no injuries. Police issued Herity a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
I-84 Crash
State police said motorist Edmond M. Mui, 59, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1995 Jeep Laredo on westbound Interstate 84 near Exit 11 about 7:20 am February 25, lost control of the vehicle on the icy road, spun and struck guardrails along the right road shoulder. Mui was not injured. State police warned him for traveling too fast for conditions.
Four Charges
Police report Jason W. Hurley, 28, of Monroe turned himself in to police on the night of February 26 after learning there were two warrants for his arrest in connection with incidents in 1995.
One of the incidents involved a house burglary on Dodgingtown Road in July 1995, police said.
Police charged Hurley with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Newtown police then turned over Hurley to Bridgeport police who held other warrants on him.
Newtown police released Hurley on a promise to appear March 13 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the Newtown charges.
Warrant
Police said Anthony V. Cassese, 29, of New Milford turned himself in to police on the night of February 26 after learning there was a warrant for his arrest.
Police charged Cassese with second-degree failure to appear in court, operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, and failure to drive to the right. The motor vehicle charges stem from a November 2, 2000, incident. Police released Cassese on a $2,500 bond for a March 13 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Truck Vs Car
Police said motorist Robert C. Marcus, 41, of Bethel was driving a 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck eastbound on a very slippery Mile Hill Road about 8 pm February 22 and made a left turn onto northbound Queen Street, but skidded into a curb, bounced off the curb and into the path of an oncoming southbound 1991 Pontiac Sunbird driven by Lauren E. Carbonell, 17, of 8 Honey Lane, Sandy Hook, resulting in a collision.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Marcus for failure to drive to the right.
Warrant
Police said Alyssa Raffaele, 30, of 11 Spring Trail, Sandy Hook, turned herself in on the morning of February 27 after learning police held a warrant for her arrest on charges of failure to appear in court and driving under the influence.
Police said the warrant stems from Raffaeleâs failure to appear in Danbury Superior Court January 9 in connection with a charge of driving under the influence.
Police released Raffaele on a $750 bond for a March 13 court appearance.
Alcohol
Police report they were called by a manager at Starbucks Coffee at 34 Church Hill Road to investigate a matter at the coffee shop.
Police said they investigated on the night of February 28 and found store employee Holly Hatfield, 17, of 21 Scudder Road to be in possession of alcohol.
Police charged Hatfield with possession of alcohol by a minor. Police said they released her on a promise to appear March 15 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
Camry Vandalism
Sometime between 5 and 10:30 pm February 28 someone broke the right rear window on a 1999 Toyota Camry parked in the Newtown Shopping Village parking lot on Queen Street. Police ask anyone with information about the case of criminal mischief to contact them at 426-5841.
Buick Crash
Police report motorist Lisa Wallmark, 17, of Sandy Hook was driving a 1988 Buick eastbound on Wasserman Way, also known as Mile Hill Road, about 8:15 pm February 27 when she lost control of the auto on an ice patch and hit steel guardrailing along the eastbound road shoulder.
Wallmark received a minor injury in the collision, police said. Police issued her a written warning for making a restricted turn.
