In Week #12 of Newtown Health & Fitness Club’s Women’s Basketball League, Kerler/Burton squeaked out their third win of the season by defeating Pizza Palace, 38-37. Nancy Bowen and Michelle Putnickey each scored 14 points and grabbed over 10 rebounds apiece to lead KB to victory. Bonnie Willie and Amy Mangola contributed four points each with Sheri Baggett adding two. Karen Powell scored 16 points for Pizza Palace with Beth Gattey adding 11, Lisa Checkley eight and Sue Vargo two.

Walsh Logging remained undefeated with a 49-32 win over Charter Communications. Tracey Palella led Walsh with 19, Carol Huizinga added 13, Ruth Rowe had eight points, Megan LaCava scored seven and Doris Ratner tossed in a pair. Holly Ferguson worked hard for Charter, leading with 20 points. Laura Denis added 10 with Laura Willing and Stephanie Trolle each adding two.

Joan Plavnicky and Melanie Townsend led Newtown Color Center in their 63-51 win over Newtown Amoco with 20 and 19 points, respectively. Sharon McCarthy tossed in 16 points and Sharon Palmer added eight for NCC. Justine Kohlsaat scored 26 for Amoco with Leslie Trudell adding 15 and Carolyn Schreiber tossing in 10.

In Week # 13, Walsh Logging extended its undefeated streak to 13 by defeating Newtown Amoco, 51-47. Tracey Palella led Walsh with 21 points. Ruth Rowe was sidelined after an injury in the beginning of the third quarter, having scored 11 points in the first two quarters. Carol Huizinga tossed in 13 and Megan LaCava added six. Denise Brough led Amoco with 18 points with Terry Schmeidel and Carolyn Schreiber each adding 10 and Justine Kohlsaat tossing in 9.

Charter Communications commanded an easy victory over Kerler Burton, 67-9. Holly Ferguson scored 22, Collene Gregory had 21, Laura Denis added 18 and Stephanie Trolle had six for Charter. Nancy Bowen scored five points for Kerler/Burton with Sherri Baggett and Amy Mangola each adding two.
