Join Us For Community Food Drive And Conversation About Our Future
To The Editor:
Sixteen years ago, I moved to Newtown and quickly grew to love this community. I’ve raised my family here, served on boards and commissions, and watched my neighbors show up for each other time and time again. That’s the Newtown I know, and that’s the Newtown I want to represent in Hartford.
I’m inviting you to join us on Saturday, February 28, at 11 am at the Newtown Community Center for a food drive and a conversation about our community’s future. It’s the kick-off to a series of community action events planned for my campaign for State Representative for the 106th District.
We’ll be collecting non-perishable food items for neighbors facing food insecurity — a challenge that faces many families in Newtown. But this event is also about addressing the bigger picture. How do we ensure families can afford groceries in the first place? How do we protect the programs and funding that Connecticut families depend on?
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong will be joining us to discuss those very questions. He’s been on the front lines, fighting in court to protect Connecticut from federal cuts and unconstitutional tariffs. His leadership has shown us what it means to stand up for our state when Washington reneges on its responsibilities, and I’m grateful he’ll be sharing his perspective with our community.
For 14 years, I’ve served Newtown by making tough decisions, putting our community first, and listening closely to what families need. This campaign is about ensuring Newtown is represented with integrity, accountability, and the experience to deliver real results.
This election is your opportunity to decide what kind of representation Newtown deserves. Do we want leaders who fight for a healthcare system that doesn’t bankrupt families? Who protect education funding for our children? Who protect our citizens against federal threats to our rights and resources?
Whether you’re coming to donate food, hear from Attorney General Tong, learn about my campaign, or simply connect with neighbors who care about our community — I hope to see you on Saturday. Bring your hope for what Newtown and Connecticut can be.
By coming together we can stock the food pantry on a Saturday — and deliver the leadership Newtown needs for the future.
I hope to see you there.
