29th Annual Hampton Classic Show

BRIDGEHAMPTON, New York – The 29th annual Hampton Classic Horse Show will return to the 60-acre showgrounds in Bridgehampton, New York, from Friday, August 28, through Sunday, September 5 (no competition on Monday, August 30).

The kick-off party is produced in conjunction with the Long Island Wine Council and benefits Central Suffolk Hospital, Eastern Long Island Hospital, Southhampton Hospital, the Long Island Wine Council, and the Hampton Classic Horse Show.

The schedule –

Sunday, August 29 through Sunday, September 5: Assorted equestrian events, 8:30 am to 5 pm); Sunday, August 29: Manhattan Mortgage Company’s Opening Day; David Yurman Time Challenge (main ring); Friday, September 3: Qualifiers for Sunday’s Grand Prix Ring competition; Saturday, September 4: Cablevision Kid’s Day; $25,000 Sally Hansen Grand Prix; Sunday, September 5: $150,000 Prudential Financial Grand Prix and World Cup Qualifier; $70,000 Eastern Finals of the Young Jumper Championships (5-, 6-, and 7-year-old jumpers); $25,000 Calvin Klein Show Jumping Derby.

Tickets will be $5 per person or $15 per carload daily. Reserved seats for Grand Prix Sunday are $15 per person (in addition to the daily admission) or $25 per person for premium center-section seating. For further information, visit www.hamptonclassic.com on the web.

Kentucky Horse Park Art Shows

LEXINGTON, Kentucky – The Kentucky Horse Park’s International Museum of the Horse will present a pair of exhibitions and a special symposium this spring and summer.

The Equine Form-Figurative and Abstract will run from April 21 through September 7 and feature the equine photography of John S. Hockensmith. Commissioned by Toyota North America, the exhibition will include photos of a variety of breeds and horses that feature the nuances of their personalities.

Racing Champions, Mustangs & A Cowboy’s Life: The Art of Christine Picavet will run from June 11 through September 12 and feature portraits of horses in racing, wildlife and Western scenes.

A dressage symposium – featuring dressage masters Conrad Schumacher, Kathy Connelly and Juan Matute – will be held April 16 through 18. The symposium will feature an address on the development of the rider, a demonstration of the development of the horses, and instruction on the three Ps … that is, Piaffe, Passage and Pirouettes.
