CT Business Day Set For March 3

HARTFORD — Hundreds of Connecticut business owners and executives from across the state will meet with state legislators and other elected officials to discuss steps that can be taken to keep the economy improving, and encourage business investments and the creation of more good jobs in the state at Connecticut Business Day 2004 on Wednesday, March 3.

The event will begin at 8:30 am in the Legislative Office Building with remarks by Gov John Rowland, Senate President Pro Tem Kevin Sullivan (D-West Hartford) and Speaker of the House Moira Lyons (D-Stamford). All members of the state legislature have been invited to attend the formal part of Connecticut Business Day. Business people will then meet with their own area’s legislators starting at 10:30 am.

“Connecticut Business Day is an opportunity for business people from across the state to tell legislators about the challenges they face, not only with the recovering economy but in the global market,” said Kenneth O. Decko, CBIA president and CEO. “Legislators need to hear about what they can do to make Connecticut more competitive for economic growth and job creation,” he said. “It also gives business leaders a sense of the competing priorities that legislators are trying to balance.”

Connecticut Business Day is co-sponsored by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) and the Connecticut Association of Chambers of Commerce Executives (CACCE), a statewide organization of 59 chamber executives. CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies.
