Dr Seuss Day At The Hawleyville PO

The Hawleyville Post Office will host a Dr Seuss Day on Friday, March 5 in conjunction with the Postal Service issuing a Theodor Seuss Geissel commemorative stamp on March 2.

The stamp honors Theodor Seuss Geissel better known as Dr Seuss, on the 100th anniversary of his birth. A Pulitzer Prize-winning author and illustrator, Dr Seuss has introduced countless children to the joys of reading.

The stamp features a color photograph of Dr Seuss taken in 1987 and surrounded by six characters from his books.

The Hawleyville Post Office will celebrate the day with a visit from the Cat in the Hat, readings from Dr Seuss books from 10 to 10:30 am, and a day of “fun and games and things quite inane.” The newly issued stamp will also be on sale.

For more information call Postmaster Mark Favale at 270-6062.
