Dream Come True Gala Is Saturday Night

For those who want to have a good time while supporting a worthy cause, the 13th Annual Dream Come True dinner dance will take place in the Amber Room Colonnade, off Route 37, Stacey Road, in Danbury, on Saturday, February 28, from 6 pm to midnight.

The evening costs $100 a person and will feature hors d’oeuvres, soup, salad, dinner, dessert, and an open bar. There will be a live auction and a silent auction, and there will be dancing to live music.

Dream Come True, Inc, based in Pennsylvania and founded in Danbury, is a nonprofit organization that grants dreams to chronically and terminally ill children. The organization will also grant medical dreams, such as installation of a handicapped ramp in a family van or helping a family pay for a motorized wheel chair.

The organization services New Haven and Litchfield counties, as well as the Bridgeport and Newtown area, and it sponsors several fundraisers throughout the year. These include the yearly gala dance, a summer picnic for recipients and their families, and a Christmas breakfast with Santa.

During the past year, Dream Come True granted 17 dreams to area children. This year’s Dream Come True host child is Jeremy Villanueva, 17, of Bridgeport. For his dream, Jeremy wanted a Sony flat screen TV with DVD surround sound. He also wanted a special part for his wheelchair that will have to be custom made.

“We try to provide a positive outlook for our clients, as well as giving them the opportunity for as much normalcy in their lives as possible,” said Dream Come True spokesperson Gail Gormley.

The host child, along with four other Dream Come True recipients, will be present at Saturday night’s gala. Last-minute attendees without reservations will be accepted at the door, according to Ms Gormley.
