Jean M. Piccioli

Jean M. Piccioli, 70, of Sun City, Bluffton, S.C., formerly of Fairfield, died on February 22 with her husband and lifelong friend at her side. Jean will be remembered and loved always by all, especially her husband of 49 years, Reno J. Piccioli, her children, Laurie and her husband Chris DeAngelis of Newtown, Donna and her husband Alan Gentrup of Newtown, and Thomas Piccioli of Elmsford, N.Y., and the lights of her life, her granddaughters Julie and Liza.

Jean was born July 7, 1933 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late James and Katherine Mullins Riccio. Beside her immediate family, Jean is survived by two sisters, Katherine Kehoe and Judy Couture and her husband Carl; her brother James Riccio and his wife Patricia; brother-in-law Robert Piccioli and his wife Therese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean worked for 20 years at B.A. Gilhuly Insurance Agency. Her organizational and people skills were unsurpassed. In addition, she was a member of Holy Family Church, Fairfield, and served as founding chairman of the Social Concerns Committee, president of the Ladies Guild, as well as being involved in all aspects of church life, especially in the Emmaus community.

Since moving to South Carolina over five years ago, Jean was a member of Saint Gregory The Great Catholic Church and served as a greeter. She has been involved in numerous activities at Sun City. She enjoyed fun nights, playing cards, laughing, listening to music, reading and traveling around the world. She also enjoyed day trips to play the slots when she was back in Connecticut.

Jean did all she could and touched many lives, never asking for anything in return.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Holy Family Church. Interment followed in St Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.

Arrangements by Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
