John C. âTexâ Marlin, 72, of Harwich, Mass., formerly of Easton, died February 20 at his daughterâs home in Newtown. Mr Marlin was the husband of Marilyn (Mako) Marlin.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Peterson and her husband, Clarence, and Jessica Leger and her husband, Leo, all of Newtown; two grandsons, Brenden Marlin Peterson and Devin John Peterson; two brothers, Franklyn Marlin of Ridgefield, and Alfred Marlin of Weston. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Marlin Sr; and a sister, Florence Rauch.
John Marlin was born in Torrington, on August 28, 1931, a son of the late Elwood and Ethel (Doty) Marlin. He was a longtime resident of Easton, where he was a self-employed landscaper until moving to Harwich two years ago.
Mr Marlin was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the John L. Ruman American Legion Post #160 in Easton, and the VFW Post in Chatham, Mass. He was a life member of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Ashlar Aspetuck Masonic Lodge #142, AF & AM, and Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Scottish Rite Valley of Bridgeport. He was a member of the Parish of Christâs Church in Easton, and played in the Old Timers Softball League of Cape Cod.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, at 3:30 pm in Christâs Church, 59 Church Street, Easton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the John L. Ruman American Legion Post #160, 1 Center Road, Easton CT 06612. Arrangements by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
