Rosenthal Joins Other Mayors And First Selectmen To Endorse Kerry

First Selectman Herb Rosenthal was among Connecticut Democratic mayors and first selectmen who endorsed John Kerry of Massachusetts in the March 2 primary during a joint press conference March 25 at noon in City Hall in Hartford.

“I encourage fellow Democrats to support Kerry,” Mr Rosenthal said during remarks at the press conference.

The endorsement was part of the Kerry campaign’s nationwide jobs tour to highlight the impact of the Bush economy and outline John Kerry’s jobs plan.

Other mayors and first selectmen participating in the Wednesday press conference were Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez, Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy, East Hartford Mayor Tim Larson, Trumbull First Selectman Raymond Baldwin, and Newington Mayor Tom McBride.

According to the John Kerry for President campaign, Connecticut has lost 46,000 jobs since George W. Bush took office as President. The Kerry partisans stated that the Bush economy is of particular concern to mayors and first selectmen because of the impact on the property tax base needed to fund schools and other municipal services.
