Mildred Hawks
Mildred Hawks, age 96, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026. Mildred was from Trumbull, where she raised her children and built a life centered around family and friends.
Later in life, she moved to Newtown, where she spent most of her remaining years. She lived a long, full life defined by strength, independence, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
She was the beloved widow of her late husband, Kenneth Hawks, with whom she shared many cherished years. Together they built a family that became Mildred’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
Mildred was a devoted mother to Gary Hawks, Rusty Hawks and his wife, Gale Hawks, and Carolee Mason. She was a loving and proud grandmother to Anthony Mason, Melissa LaPak, and Matthew Hawks, and a treasured great-grandmother to many great-grandchildren whom she cherished deeply and adored spending time with. Her family was truly the light in her eyes. She found immense joy in their accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to tell others just how proud she was of each and every one of them.
Known for her strength and determination, Mildred was a strong, independent woman who loved unconditionally. She believed in staying active and capable, even mowing her own lawn well into her late 80s, a true testament to her resilience and spirit. She carried herself with confidence and always spoke what was on her mind, a quality that made her both admired and respected by those who knew her.
Mildred had many dear friends and formed lasting bonds throughout her life. She would do anything for anyone and was always there when someone needed her. Her generosity, loyalty, and willingness to help others defined the way she lived. Whether family or friend, you could always count on Mildred.
Her legacy is one of love, strength, pride, and devotion. She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her lessons, her stories, and her unconditional love in their hearts.
