1987-2022

Daniel Edward Skiba, 35, of Newtown, Conn., passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Born in Danbury, Conn., on January 16, 1987, he was a son of Gary Skiba of Austin, Texas, and Karen (Kuczko) Skiba of Newtown.

He attended Danbury schools, graduated from Newtown High School, Naugatuck Valley Community College, and Western Connecticut State University with a B.S. in Chemistry.

Dan was extremely intelligent and witty. He was incessantly curious, which is one of the many reasons he was wise beyond his years. He had a supreme knowledge for chess and won the Connecticut State Chess Championship title in middle school. He had a natural talent for playing the guitar. He enjoyed cooking, loved nature and the outdoors, and especially loved spending time with his nieces. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his father, Gary, and mother, Karen, and her partner, Tony Don, Dan is survived by his brother, Michael Skiba, and his wife, Kristen, and their daughters, Sydney and Sophie; paternal grandfather, Don Skiba, and his wife Beverly; paternal grandmother Margaret Skiba; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Dan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dr Edward and Mary Anne Kuczko.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury, on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 5 to 8 pm.
