TARGET STARS ON ICE: Scott Hamilton, Olympic Champion, will be performing his “farewell tour” at the Hartford Civic Center on Sunday, March 11, 2001. The $52.00 fee includes ticket and school bus transportation. The bus will be leaving from the Newtown Middle School at 2:30 p.m. SHARP for a 4:00 p.m. show. In addition to Scott, Olympic Champions Tara Lipinski, Kristi Yamaguchi, Llia Kulik, Ekaterina Gordeeva, Kurt Browning, Jenni Meno and Todd Sands will be performing. GIRLS ON THE RUN: “Girls on the Run” is an experiential learning program for 3rd - 5th grade girls that combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk event with life-changing, self-esteem enhancing, uplifting warm-ups and workouts that encourage emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development. Instructor, Tory Beauchemin, explains that the innovative curriculum is designed exclusively for pre-teen girls and includes running workouts and games that teach specific life skills. This program will be held at the Middle School on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting March 13, 2001, from 4 to 5 pm and the fee is $140.00 for 24 sessions.
