Michael Allan Draper

Michael Allan Draper, 73, of Guilford, beloved husband of Diana and devoted father of Kevin Michael and the late Keith Vincent, died February 27. He was born October 18, 1942, in Jamaica, N.Y., the ninth of ten children of Dr Thomas Frazer Draper and Ann Griffin Draper.www.guilfordfuneralhome.com.

In addition to his wife of almost 50 years, the former Diana Bauso, and his son Kevin, his siblings and their spouses, Dr Thomas F. and Patricia Draper of Newtown, Patricia Randolph of Danbury, Barbara and Clarence Buxton of Purcellville, Va., Jacqueline Prout of California, Robert and Kathleen Draper of Nissequogue, N.Y., and Denis and Christine Draper of Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; daughter-in-law Claire Draper; his granddaughters Madison Patricia and Molly Kathleen; and 38 nieces and nephews survive Mr Draper. His sister Joan Ellen Draper and his brothers Dr David A. Draper and Edward Raymond Draper predeceased him.

Mr Draper received bachelor's and master's degrees from St Michael's College in Colchester, Vt. He then served in the US Air Force at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, from 1967 to 1971, retiring as a captain. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force he began a long and distinguished career as a financial advisor and insurance agent with Connecticut Mutual (later Mass Mutual).

He was a frequent visitor to his family in Newtown. He was an avid runner (and competed in the New York Marathon), reader, and writer. He published two detective novels.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place March 2. Burial with Military Honors followed in Alder Brook Cemetery, Guilford.
