Two Garner Inmates Charged In Prison Assaults

State police report two incidents in which Garner Correctional Institution inmates were arrested for allegedly assaulting correction officers in the high security prison at 50 Nunnawauk Road.

At about 11:30 am February 26, inmate Andrew St Jean, 45, allegedly assaulted two correction officers, state police said. St Jean was charged with assault on a correction officer and with breach of peace.

St  Jean was scheduled to appear February 27 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges. St Jean is serving a sentence in Garner on a conviction for assault on a police officer.

About 11 pm February 23, state police were called to Garner on a report that an inmate had assaulted a correction officer.

Following an investigation, state police arrested inmate Richard Pommer, 21, on a charge of assault on a correction officer. The correction officer was not injured, state police said.

Pommer was scheduled to appear February 24 in Danbury Superior Court. Pommer is serving a 12-year prison sentence in Garner on a conviction for first degree robbery.
