Yale Rep Anniversary Season Continuing

With A World Premiere

NEW HAVEN — Marcus Gardley’s dance of the holy ghosts: a play on memory will continue Yale Repertory Theatre’s 40th anniversary season. Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper will lead the cast of six, which also includes Pascale Armand, La Tonya Borsay, Harriet D. Foy, Brian Henry and Paul J. Medford.

Directed by Liz Diamond, performances will run March 17 to April 8 at The New Theater, 1156 Chapel Street. Previews will run until March 22; opening night is March 23.

Oscar Clifton (being played by Mr Cooper) prefers to live his memories rather than his life. But when his estranged grandson (Mr Henry) comes calling after 18 years, Oscar must face a very different version of his past. Together, what future can they make?

The poetic family drama dances from the hilarious innocence of a childhood crush to the heartbreak of a ruined marriage.  As intricate as a chess game, as mouthwatering as a slice of sweet potato pie, as luminous as a full summer moon, dance of the holy ghosts: a play on memory marks the emergence of playwright Marcus Gardley as a unique new voice in the American theatre.

The production features original music composed by Scott Davenport Richards. The Yale Rep presentation will have musical direction by X.Y. Eli and choreography by Peter Pucci.

Performances will be Monday through Saturday evenings at 8 pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons at 2.

Tickets are range from $30 to $50 each, and group rates are available. Contact Yale Rep’s box office, 203-432-1234, or visit YaleRep.org for reservations and details about special programs associated with this production.
