September 3, 1937 - February 26, 2021

Margaret A. Imbro (nee Wilkeyson) was a longtime resident of New Fairfield, Conn., where she raised two sons, Broderick (deceased) and Scott, and moved to Newtown in September of 2011. Margaret dedicated her life to serving people. She was on the board of the Commission on Aging for Newtown, Visiting Nurse Association board, the Social Concerns Ministry at St Rose of Lima Church, and started the Parish Nurse Program at St Edwards in New Fairfield.

Margaret was a nurse for over 50 years and was at one time the Director of Nursing for Salem Hills/Waterview in Purdys, N.Y., and became a resident in 2017. She had also served as a nurse consultant for Longterm Care at the New York State Department of Health until she retired in 2015. She once described herself as a “nurse with a lot of degrees.”

She was active in her community and a patron of the arts. She loved chamber music, was a member of Newtown Friends of Music for over 20 years, sang in the Danbury Music Center Chorus for eight years, and loved to visit the botanical gardens and local museums. She loved to read and was a member of several book clubs. She had traveled all over Europe and the United States and has the picture albums to prove it.

Margaret will be most remembered by those who knew and loved her for her frequency of sending cards!

Margaret is survived by her son Scott and his wife, Jane; granddaughter Dana; sister Barbara Traynor in Chattanooga, Tenn.; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews throughout the country.

A Mass is expected to be held sometime in the late spring or early summer.
