DUI Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Colleen Hall, 39, of 20 Brookbridge Drive turned herself over to them on the morning of February 28 and was charged with driving under the influence, police said.

The charge stems from an early morning accident on January 14, police said. In that accident, Hall was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee northward on Glen Road in dense fog at about 1:25 am, when the auto went out of control and struck an embankment along the northbound road shoulder, causing it to roll over. Ambulance volunteers then transported Hall to Danbury Hospital for treatment of a hand injury.

After processing the charge, police released Hall on $100 bail for a March 15 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Minivan Vs Deer

Motorist Vicki McColl, 36, of 5 Putnam Drive was driving a 2000 Ford Windstar minivan northward on Hattertown Road, near its intersection with Merlin’s Lane, about 6:30 pm February 26, when a deer ran out onto the road, resulting in a collision, police report.

Neither McColl, nor two child passengers in the Ford, were injured, police said. Police took no enforcement.

Castle Hill Crash

Police report a one-car accident on Castle Hill Road, about 1,000 feet east of its intersection with Taunton Hill Road, about 8 pm February 26.

Motorist Gregory Williams, 21, of Naugatuck was driving a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire coupe westward, when the auto’s right tires encountered a sandy area, causing the vehicle to go out of control, police said. The Pontiac entered the eastbound lane and then struck two trees, police said. The vehicle came to rest facing eastward in the eastbound lane.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident.

Williams and back seat passenger Marnie Werner, 18, of Sandy Hook were treated at the scene for injuries and refused further treatment, police said. Front seat passenger Justin Gaynor, 17, of 12 Alberts Hill Road was not injured, police said.

All three people in the vehicle were wearing safety belts at the time of the accident, police said.

Police issued Williams an infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions.

Lester Road

Motorist Francis Susca, 48, of North Salem, N.Y., was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer, which was hauling a trailer, westward on Lester Road about 9:30 am February 24, police said.

At that time, motorist Edward Dâ'Amico, 67, of 57 Dodgingtown Road was driving a 1985 Chevrolet Blazer eastward there, according to police.

Because the road is narrow and the trailer was wide, the Chevrolet stopped to allow the Ford to pass by it, police said.

But as the Ford passed by, the trailer that the Ford was hauling struck the Chevrolet, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Susca a written warning.
