Woman’s Club Planning Silent Auction

The Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC, Inc, is planning its second annual Silent Auction on Saturday, March 19, from 4 to 7 pm, in the C.H. Booth Library meeting room.

There will be wine and cheese, champagne, a juice bar, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts. Many door prizes will be given away.

The auction items will range from baskets of all shapes and sizes to such specials as overnight accommodations for two at the Maples Inn bed and breakfast plus brunch for two next door at the Roger Sherman Inn, both in New Canaan. The Maples Inn is owned by former Newtown resident Anastasia Ruffles Kennedy and her husband, Tom Kennedy.

There will be a hot air balloon ride for two, two Yankee baseball game field box tickets, a golfers’ package for four at Rock Ridge Country Club, tennis lessons by tennis pro Alex Aitchison, a half-day of licensed electrician services, doula services, a family fun day at the Maritime Aquarium, and other packages.

There will also be themed baskets (Irish, wine, garden, boating, etc), and baskets, bags, and boxes for kids from tots to teens. Baskets filled with gift cards will be available for older teens.

Tickets are $5 for adults; children are free. Tickets are available from all Woman’s Club members and also at the door.

For more information, or tickets, call Rosemary Rau at 426-2226 or Marianne Scanlon at 426-5283.
