Henry Fitze

Loving Family Man

Henry Fitze, 88, of Sandy Hook, beloved husband of Elsie (Eisele) Fitze, died at Masonicare of Newtown, February 24. He was born in Astoria, Queens, N.Y., August 28, 1922, son of Mary (Stackowiak) and Henry T. Fitze.

Mr Fitze was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army Air Corps. He worked as an electrical engineer for Ma Bell in New York City for many years, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

In his younger years, he was an active member of Christ Church in New Hyde Park, N.Y., where he volunteered as a Sunday School teacher, was a member of the church council, and sang in the choir. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Cub Scouts, teaching woodworking to children.

Most importantly, he was a loving family man who will be sadly missed. In addition to his cherished wife of 67 years, he is survived by his son, Paul H. Fitze, and his wife Maria; his daughter, Ruth Anne Group, and her husband Corbett; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Funeral services took place March 1. Burial will be in Newtown Village Cemetery in the spring.
