How To Find Italian

Genealogy Records

On Wednesday, March 9, the Genealogy Club of Newtown will host a free presentation by Toni McKeen, titled “Italian Genealogy Records.” The program will start at 7 pm in the community room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Ms McKeen will demonstrate, step by step, how to locate and acquire genealogical documents from Italy. She will describe methods for reading these documents, offer translation tips, and explain how to determine the genealogical significance of these records.

Ms McKeen will also discuss how her research methods and basic principles can be used to acquire and interpret the genealogical records of ancestors from other countries.

A popular presenter at genealogical societies all over Connecticut and New York, Toni McKeen has been involved in genealogy for 25 years. She teaches genealogy classes at Founders Hall in Ridgefield and she travels to Italy every year to continue tracing her family’s ancestry.

The Genealogy Club of Newtown meets on the second Wednesday of every month, September through June, at Booth Library. New members and visitors are always welcome.

In April, the club will host speakers from the Connecticut Historical Society, who will talk about the many genealogical resources available at the society’s museum and library in Hartford.

For more information about the club or its next program, call Harlan Jessup, 203-270-7887.
