Laurel Jean Partrick, of Newtown, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2022, at Regional Hospice in Danbury, Conn., surrounded by her loving family. Laurel was born on June 23, 1948, in Norwalk, Conn., to the late Winifred (Norman) and Kenneth Andrus.

Laurel lived in New Milford, Conn., for many years until moving to Nunnawauk Meadows in Newtown. She worked for Charter Communications in addition to caring for her children, grandchildren, and eventually her parents. Laurel was happiest giving her time to help others. She was a volunteer at New Milford Hospital in the emergency and maternity departments for many years while living in New Milford. When she moved to Newtown, she dedicated time to serve on committees for the Nunnawauk Meadows Residents Association. Laurel devoted many hours to the annual tag sale and other activities in her community. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in New Milford and later in Newtown. She was a participant in the church choir and volunteered at many of the church events. She truly had a selfless spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.

If you knew Laurel, then you knew how much she loved her children and grandchildren. She considered them to be the lights of her life, and welcomed many of her grandchildren into the world. Laurel had a passion for cats, books, and music. She loved going to concerts and spending time at the beach or pool — especially if it was in Aruba.

Laurel is survived by her four loving children, Melissa Della Corte (Rich), George Poodiack (Jessica), Stephen Partrick (Cathleen), and Lisa Partrick; her wonderful brother, Ken (Evie) Andrus; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Arianna, Aidan, and Addison Della Corte, Owen, Chase, and Dillon Poodiack, Cameron Partrick, Jennifer and Allison Indelicato, and Catherine Partrick.

To our mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend, “I miss the warmth of your gentle hug and the love I felt when my arms were wrapped around you. I miss seeing your beautiful smile and the sound of your voice saying my name. I miss hearing you say, “I love you,” and me saying, “I love you,” in return.” ―Millie P. Lorenz
