NEW YORK CITY — Kim Cogan’s first solo exhibition in New York City will take place at Gallery Henoch March 20–April 12. A reception for the artist will be on Thursday, March 20, from 6 to 8 pm.

Cogan’s paintings capture the spirit of contemporary city life in the frenetic quality of his brushstrokes with a dark urban palette. In his cityscapes, the recognizable skylines of San Francisco and Manhattan are broken down into a bare minimum of abstract elements, their familiar structures simplifies into lines, color fields, and shapes. In these astute observations of metropolitan life, Cogan remains firmly planted in abstraction while documenting his urban world.
