Assault At Garner

State police report that Garner Correctional Institution inmate Frank Hernandez, 33, whose last known address was in Meriden, threw an amount of fecal matter at correction officer Vaughn Willis, striking Willis’s uniform with it, about 10:55 am March 3.

Hernandez is doing time at the high-security prison on Nunnawauk Road for violation of probation, state police said. There were no injuries in the incident.

State police said the uniform was taken as evidence and will be submitted to the state police toxicology laboratory in Meriden for chemical analysis. State police said that upon return of the chemical testing, they expect to file court paperwork seeking a warrant to arrest Hernandez on a charge of assault on a correction officer.
