Why Not A Field In The Neighborhood?

To the Editor:

I was at the P&Z meeting for the Old Farm Hill subdivision when the chairman asked the developer for “good, usable land” for ball fields and sled runs. The developer wanted to “donate” wetlands and ledgy drop-offs.

He understood at that time that 100 new houses would put a strain on the P&R facilities of the town. At that time land was set aside for “ball fields, etc.” Unfortunately they were not developed at that time.

Now the people who would benefit from the fields don’t want them? I can’t understand why they want to drive all over town to a field instead of to a community field in their neighborhood.
