Looking For Lots Of Love

By Shannon Hicks

Many people would like to help Locks of Love, the nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Some folks do not have the patience to grow their hair long enough to be eligible for the minimum ten-inch donation, however, or have a hard time parting with their hair once they have grown it that long.

Klickers owner Toni Ribeiro has come up with a solution to both dilemmas: A Locks of Love Spring Fundraiser.

From now until Easter, Ms Ribeiro has an Easter basket inside her hair salon filled with plastic eggs. For a $5 donation — 100 percent of which will be forwarded to Locks of Love — each person who picks one of the eggs from the basket is guaranteed a service (deep condition treatment, hand paraffin wax, manicure, et al) or product (Paul Mitchell shampoo and other items, Avojuice skin quenchers, et al).

“A lot of people are coming in and not even thinking twice about doing this,” said Ms Ribeiro, who has helped many of her clients donate their hair to the nonreligious, nonpolitical, not-for-profit Locks of Love. The donation Ms Ribeiro sends in to the West Palm Beach organization will help Locks of Love fund the production of hairpieces.

Klickers Hair Studio is at 147 Mt Pleasant Road, within Taunton Plaza. The event is open to anyone who would like to make a donation to Locks of Love, not just current customers of the salon. For additional information call 426-5336.
