Mr and Mrs Kenneth Onofrey

Melissa Ahlbin Thompson and Kenneth Michael Onofrey were married on September 22, 2007, at Lord Thompson Manor in Thompson. The bride’s uncle, the Reverend Douglas Conley, officiated. A reception followed the ceremony, also at Lord Thompson Manor.

The bride is the daughter of Diane Thompson and Chip Carpenter of Sandy Hook and of Carolyn and Robert Thompson of Germantown, Md. She was given into marriage by her father.

For her wedding day Melissa chose a Carmela Sutera dress with a strapless bodice, embroidered with baby pearls and crystals featuring a silk organdy ruffle along the neckline and a silk, satin skirt with box pleats. Her bouquet was made up of red and pink-tipped red roses, mango calla lilies, and chocolate cosmos.

Her maid of honor was her sister, Audrey Thompson of Danbury, who wore an Ann Taylor Celebrations design. Hers was a long V-neck dress, espresso, with a pleated back.

Bridesmaids were Jennifer Smachetti, Addya Bowmick, Corinne Thompson, Carolyn Onofrey, Jessica Singer, Danielle Weinstein, and Jennifer Weidemann. Their dresses, also from the Ann Taylor Celebrations line, were also espresso but with an ecru sash, satin back dupioni, and with double V-neck. The attendants all carried bouquets of red roses, chocolate cosmos, and pale green hydrangeas.

Mr Onofrey is the son Maribeth and Kenneth Onofrey of Sandy Hook.

Kellen Flannery of Hartford and Cory Galotta of New York City shared the duties of being best man. Ushers were Aaron LaVigne, Jim Tkaczyk, Chris Puzzo, Joel Weinstein, Steve Leety-Wheeler, Brent Concilio, and Jesse Aclin.

Flower girls were Sophia and Lucie Root of Brookline, Mass.

Mrs Onofrey is a 2000 graduate of Newtown High School, and a 2004 graduate of the University of Connecticut, where she earned a bachelor’s in psychology. She is employed as a developmental specialist at South Bay Early Intervention in Lowell, Mass.

Mr Onofrey is a 1999 graduate of Newtown High School, and a 2003 graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he earned a bachelor’s in psychology.

Following a honeymoon to Brugge in Belgium, and then Paris and Cannes in France, the couple has returned to their home in Boston’s historic North End.
