Representatives from Ben’s Bells Connecticut in Bethel visited Newtown Middle School on February 28 to oversee the start of a mural for the school.

NMS is the final public school in Newtown to install a mural, and the school’s PTA is still fundraising to cover the cost of the mural. Ben’s Bells Connecticut Studio Manager Jane Adams explained the process of creating ceramic pieces for the future mural to the first group of students on February 28. She walked students through molding the Ben’s Bells shapes and other ceramic pieces, reminding them they could write kind messages on some of the pieces.

As students worked around her, NMS PTA Co-president Melissa Beylouni said everyone is excited for “everything coming together.”

Once ready for installation, the mural will be placed outside near the main entrance to the school.
