String Quartet At ETH, Sunday

The Cavani String Quartet will appear in concert on Sunday, March 12, at 3 pm, at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street. The concert is being sponsored by Newtown Friends of Music.

This dynamic quartet was last heard here in April 2004, and audience response was so enthusiastic that they had to be invited to come again.

On the program in Sundayâs concert will be Mozartâs Adagio and Fugue, K546, a premiere of Merry Peckham âBreakfast at the Ibis,â and the monumental Beethoven Opus 130 including the âGrosse Fuge.â

In addition, Cavani String Quartet will spend the night in Newtown and visit Reed Intermediate School on Monday to lead a School Outreach Program.

Tickets for Sundayâs concert are $18 for adults, and $16 for seniors; children between the ages of five and 14 are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticket holding adult.

Absent is the observation that the dangerous e-bike riders are young teen boys right at that age where they are physically capable of daring stunts but mentally incapable of understanding how dangerous they can be to themselves and others. I witnessed this Wednesday afternoon driving back home from Norwalk- a kid around 14 was cruising at about 20mph and barely glanced at other traffic while barnstorming thru a 4 way stop. Many others have observed the same behavior from the same cohort. I'm not sure 'big govt' is the solution but without parental supervision I think it's the best we've got. Will there be penalties for breaking whatever e-bike rules are put in place, or will their young age excuse them from legal consequences? Good luck with the regulations!

Let’s have a serious discussion about how best to support innovation — without the hyperbole.
