The Value Of A Professional
The Value Of A Professional
To the Editor:
I was very pleased to see the letter from Chris Marion complimenting Doug Collins of Keller Williams Realty on his exemplary performance in helping with the sale and subsequent move into the new home. My guess is that the writer is a kind individual who understands the skills and experience involved in making the home selling process less stressful and was appreciative. This appreciation was rewarded with the utmost professionalism.
As a realtor for almost 18 years, I have been frequently disappointed in the lack of appreciation for the experience, education, and highly ethical approach that most realtors exhibit. Yes, there are many realtors in Newtown. And, yes, some homes do sell themselves. But anyone who has run into a problem selling will tell you that having a realtor on your side is essential in this suit-happy society. As with any industry, there are also those who just do what they have to do and no more. But the realtors who provide professional and caring service gain the respect of their clients and form long-term relationships and become friends. I just wish more people understood the value of the time that we spend with them.
And, yes, I will watch for the responsive letter from the irate homeowner who has had a negative experience. When I retire, I plan to write a book about my unhappy experiences with clients, too!
