To celebrate its tenth summer of productions, NewArts is planning a return to its performance roots: a summer production of Seussical the Musical.

The show was the first show done by the performing arts company in 2013.

Students who will be entering first grade in the fall, through college age — and anyone who was part of the 2013 production — are invited to audition. Auditions will be conducted via Zoom on Friday, March 25, 4-8 pm; and Saturday, March 26, 10 am-7 pm.

Appointments are required, and can be made through newarts.as.me/seussical2022.

Ten-minute appointments will be scheduled through that website.

Those auditioning should prepare a short song of their choice and a monologue/poem or reading from a book. Total time for both should not exceed three minutes.

Tuition and a nominal costume fee will be required. Organizers expect it to be approximately $1,100. This will cover costuming, rehearsals, theater workshops, vocal technique, and character- building activities.

Rehearsals/camp will begin the week of July 5. It will meet Monday through Friday, 9 am-3 pm. There will be additional afternoon and/or evening times as the performances near.

Performances are planned for the weekends of August 5-7 and 12-14 at a location in Newtown TBA.

There will be two casts, each with four performances.

Volunteers are also sought for the tech crew: costumes, props, scenery work, backstage work, etc. Tech crew must be at least 16 years old.

For additional information contact NewArts Director of Operations Ryan Loucks at RLoucks@1214foundation.org or visit 1214foundation.org/newarts.

Auditions are being scheduled for an August production of celebrating ten summers of musicals by NewArts.
