John J. Palo

Avid Sports Enthusiast

John J. Palo, 86, beloved husband of the late Irene Sterback Palo, died March 8 after a short illness at St Vincent’s Medical Center with his sons at his side. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine Metros Palo.

Survivors include two sons, Richard T. Palo and his wife, Beverly, of Newtown and David C. Palo and his wife, Mary Beth, of Greenlawn, N.Y.; one brother, Edward Palo of Melbourne, Fla.; five grandchildren, Todd, Kyle, Meridith, Grace and Bret Palo; and several nieces and nephews.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Army. He was a retiree of General Electric. He was an umpire for Trumbull Little League, a member of Catholic War Veterans, Post 1250, a communicant of the former St John New Church and was an avid sports enthusiast.

Funeral services were held March 13 in the Church of Christ the King, Trumbull, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
