Joseph J. Viadero, 77, of Bridgeport, died March 13 at St Vincentâs Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on July 26, 1928, he was a son of Jose Mato and Encarnacion Calvo Viadero.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carmen Lavin Viadero; two sons, James Viadero and his wife, Kimberly, of Newtown and Dr Joseph Viadero and his wife, Anna, of Montague, Mass.; two grandsons, Jason and Dominic of Montague, Mass.; a brother, Angelo Viadero and his wife, Mary, of Bridgeport; four nieces, Nancy DâAntonio, Linda DiPalma, Jean Canuel, and Gail Scinto.
Mr Viadero attended local schools in Bridgeport and enlisted in the US Army serving in the Pacific Theater and the Philippines from 1945 to 1947, attaining the rank of PFC before being honorably discharged. He was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport and was employed at Remington Arms for 35 years as a machinist, retiring in 1984 as a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a parishioner of St Margaretâs Shrine and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was an active member of the VFW Harris-Rogers Post 145 and was a former vice commander of the American Legion Harry Condon Post.
His hobbies included traveling, military history, and attending his grandsonsâ athletic events.
Funeral services took place on March 16 from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull, and in St Margaretâs Shrine, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors followed in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
