Lenten Music At Trinity, Sunday
Lenten Music At Trinity, Sunday
At 3 pm on Sunday, March 19, Trinity Episcopal Churchâs Music@Trinity series will continue.
Fiona Smith Sutherland, director of music at Trinity Church, will present for the public a Lenten Organ Recital in the churchâs sanctuary, 36 Main Street.
The program will feature the partita O Gott, du Frommer Gott of J.S. Bach, Adagios by Samuel Barber, works of Thomas Tallis and Tomaso Albinoni, and other meditative pieces for the season. The performance will run about 45 minutes without intermission.
All ages welcome. A freewill offering will be accepted at the door.
The concert, on Trinityâs stunning Austin pipe organ, will be the first in the 2006 program of Music@Trinity, a committee which seeks to offer fine music for the enjoyment of the community at large in the acoustically excellent sanctuary of the church.
Other planned events this spring include the Easter Sunday worship services featuring a brass quartet as well as the Trinity choirs; the lauded mezzo-soprano Jan Wilson, and the Childrenâs Choir concert, both in May; a return engagement of the Connecticut bluegrass group Shoregrass in September; and, with successful fundraising, Robert DeCormierâs nationally acclaimed Counterpoint for a third Newtown concert.
