Levy Will Be Guest Artist

At Next SCAN Meeting

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have a pastel painting demonstration by Leslie Lillien Levy on Wednesday, March 22, at 1:30 pm. Her subject will be a still life.

This meeting is open to the public, free of charge, and will be held in the lower meeting room at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole)

Ms Levy is an award-winning painter who specializes in still life and portraiture, but she also includes landscapes in her repertoire. Working in oils and pastels, her style is representational.

She has exhibited widely in nationally juried exhibitions and museum shows and in gallery invitationals. Two of her still life paintings were award winners in the 2003 Pastel Journal — Pastel 100. She was a finalist in The Artists Magazine’s 1999 competition and will be featured in an upcoming issue of this magazine with her pastel still life. She also won Best in Show in 1999 at the Academic Artists Association in Springfield, Mass.

Ms Levy received a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and studied with Harvey Dinnerstein at the Art Students League of New York, where she also served on the Board of Control.

She lives in Kent, where she teaches still life painting in oils and pastel in her studio.
