Newtown RTC Elects New Officers

The Newtown Republican Town Committee has elected Carol Recht as chairman, Joseph DiCandido as vice chairman, Carolyn Signorelli as secretary, and Amy Mangold as treasurer. The new officers will serve from March 2004 to March 2006.

Carol Recht, former NRTC secretary, served as co-chairman for the 2003 campaign. A writer and editor, she has worked for several local companies, including Forecast International, Greater Danbury Business Digest, and The Newtown Bee. Her stories have appeared in many publications. She holds a BS degree in English/journalism from The Lindenwood Colleges. She and her husband Richard have lived in Newtown for 28 years. They have three grown children and three grandchildren in Richmond, Va.

Joseph DiCandido currently is serving a second consecutive term on the Legislative Council, where he represents District 1. A Newtown resident since 1997, he is president and founder of Nutek Aerospace Corp in New Milford. He is also vice president of the Military Museum of Southern New England.  He received his BS in civil engineering from the City College of New York He and his wife Eloise have been married for 41 years. They have three children and four grandchildren. 

Carolyn Signorelli of Sandy Hook is an assistant attorney general of Connecticut who has worked for the past nine years prosecuting neglect and abuse cases on behalf of the state. House Minority Leader Robert M. Ward, R-86th, recently appointed her to the Children’s Trust Fund Council. Ms Signorelli received her law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William & Mary, and her BA in political science from Vassar College. She and her husband, Chuck Stofko, have three daughters.

Amy Mangold, a lifelong resident of Newtown, currently serves as director of the Teen Center under the Newtown Parks and Recreation Department. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in recreational management. She and her husband Bill have three children in Newtown schools and a toddler at home.

“We have a remarkably talented team,” said Ms Recht. “We look forward to uniting local Republicans around the principles we adopted last year and continuing to elect candidates who support those efforts.”
