NCC Welcomes New Members

Fourteen new members were welcomed into the Newtown Congregational Church last Sunday morning during the All-Church worship service.

New members are Diana and Richard Query, Barbara and Carl Lindquist, Carol Amaral, Vicky and John Truitt, Robin and Robert Binnie, Dianne and Robert Nelson, Sigrid and Kent Carpenter, and Richard Blanc.

Each of those present responded “I do” to the deacon who read: “In the presence of God and these witnesses, do you give yourself unreservedly to Christ’s service, and take this to be your church? Ever-mindful of the welfare of your fellow members, do you promise to walk with them in faithfulness and Christian love? And do you promise that, so far as you are able, you will attend the services of this church, observe the sacraments, benevolences and endeavor to make it a fruitful body of Christians?”

Following the oath the congregation stood to assert its promise to walk with these new members in love and sympathy, and to promote growth in Christian life. A reception followed the service in the undercroft.
