The Purple Splash and the Blazin' Booties opened up with victories in the first round of the Senior Girls Basketball League (sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department) and advanced to the semi-finals on Thursday.

The first-place Thundercats will host the Purple Splash while the second-place Killer Smurfs will host the Blazinâ Booties. The league championship (pitting the winners of each game) will be held on Wednesday, March 28.
The Purple Splash advanced with a 23-10 win over the Jolly Green Giants. Kaitlin Barry tossed in 10 points and Colleen Davis added five. Monica Zigman and Sarah Kaecchele had good games. For the Giants, Stephanie Wiedemann, Lauren Blomberg, Lindsey Blomberg, Laura Willing and Kristen McGrath led the way.
The Booties advanced with a 32-20 win over Kooterâs Coyotes. Caitlin Martin tossed in 12 points for the Booties while Michele Nelson, Kerin Sovern and Lorraine Narel all played well. For the Coyotes, Shannon Rouse canned seven points while Dana Martenson, Caroline Kunkel and Erica Carino had fine floor games.
