DRC Dinner-Dance Auction

March 31 At Amber Room

DANBURY — Want to drive a Ferrari or have someone do magic for your child’s party? Or perhaps you would like to have a bagpiper for that special event. These are just a few of the items that will be auctioned off Saturday night, March 31, at the Amber Room when the Danbury Regional Commission on Child Care, Rights and Abuse, Inc. (DRCCCRA) holds its 25th year dinner dance and silent auction celebration and fundraiser.

The Clark Eno Orchestra will be returning to provide the dance music. The event begins at 6 pm and the silent auction will be open. There are entertainment items to area theaters, radio shows, and restaurants, tennis court time, New York and New Haven baseball tickets, a Pool Party at Boston Billiards, and a Hyatt Get-Away for two. Artists, illustrators, and authors have donated signed works and there is even an original Darth Vader mask from Star Wars.

For golfers there is a round of golf, clothing, and equipment on the auction table, donated by the Exchange Club. There will be hockey tickets, white water rafting, and bicycles for two. To help at home there is fuel oil, plumbing fixtures, and a home fire and safety security system.

For the children there are books, complete Harry Potter collections, Sargent Desmond’s magic show, and a cuddly kitty cat lounger. For the parents there is the “Day in the Life of Your Child” photo essay.

Items of jewelry and many spa and hair salon gifts, a portrait sitting, and Lunch with the Mayor. All items are donated and the proceeds for the event go to pay for programs of the DRCCCRA that works to protect children through supporting and empowering families. It is dedicated to providing nonjudgmental, nurturing support, advocacy, and information about healthy parenting for families at risk of child abuse and neglect in the Greater Danbury area. Funding comes from the State Department of Children and Families, area municipalities, grants, United Way of Northern Fairfield County and the Housatonic/Shepaug, contributions, and the annual dinner/dance/auction.
