“Change The Story: A Community Panel on Substance Use and Addiction, Balancing Our Hopes and Concerns,” the Connecticut Parent Connection community panel forum originally planned for March 14, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 28.

The original date was postponed due to a snowstorm that day. The importance of the panel and its subject matter was addressed in part by Editor John Voket in this week's Newtown Bee Editorial Ink Drops.

All original speakers are still planning to participate:

Dr Charles Herrick (psychiatry, Nuvance Health) will discuss addiction disorders and the brain science;

Newtown PD Sergeant Will Chapman will talk about the availability of drugs and what the Police Department is doing to keep our community safe; and

Filmmaker Greg Williams (president, Third Horizon Strategies) will tell his story and discuss efforts to improve treatment and the progress being made among the recovery community.

Western CT Coalition Executive Director Allison Fulton will moderate. Fulton will also highlight some of the work being coordinated across the state and how to become involved.

The presentation will be at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street. All are welcome.

Reservations are not required for the 90-minute event. Additional information may be available by calling 203-270-1600 or sending e-mail to info@newtownparentconnection.org, or visiting CTparentconnection.org.
