Bountiful Baskets & Beautiful Things

At The Library, This Weekend

Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC, will host its 3rd Annual Bountiful Baskets-Beautiful Things silent auction at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, on Saturday, March 25. The event will run from 3 to 6 pm in the library’s lower meeting room.

Admission is $5.

Among this year’s theme baskets will be At The Beach, Think Pink, Fine Dining & Gourmet Delights, Bouncing Baby Boy, and The Little Princess Birthday Party, and a fully outfitted birthday celebrate complete with tutu skirts, bejeweled wands and crowds, and girls’ accessories, all housed in a pretty pink keepsake box.

Among the big-ticket auction items are Foxwoods Casino luxury stretch limo trip for up to six people from Ultimate Limousine of New Fairfield; an Indulge Yourself Package from Aetheria Relaxation Spa of New Canaan; tickets for four to a Yankees game; a golf foursome at Rock Ridge Country Club; and a New England-style lobster bake delivered to the winner’s home.

In the Beautiful Things area, guests will find home accessories from Victoria Yarrow, The Drum Machine, original arts and crafts donated by local artisans, a Pretty in Purple Fairy Doll, Jen the Ceramic Hen, a magnum of champagne, and more.

Kids can join in the fun, too. There will be “at least a dozen” items for the younger bidders, promises Bountiful Baskets-Beautiful Things chairman Rosemary Rau.

In addition to the silent auction, there will be ongoing wine tastings, hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served, a champagne bar will be operating, and a juice bar will be set up. There will be “door prizes galore,” said Mrs Rau.

“It’s going to be so much fun,” she said. “There really is something here for all ages.”
