At about 7 am March 16, motorist Christel Cinelli, 40, of Naugatuck was driving a 2004 Hyundai Accent near 172 Currituck Road, when a wild turkey ran out onto the street, police report.
In response to the birdâs sudden appearance, Cinelli slowed the Hyundai, police said.
Motorist Paula Denike 57, of 18 Gopher Road, who was driving a 1994 Toyota Camry behind the Hyundai, also slowed down, but struck the Hyundai from behind, police said.
 There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Denike for following too closely.
Moving Violations
Police said that they spotted motorist David Sheahan, 34, of Danbury driving a vehicle westward on Wasserman Way with a rear marker plate that bore an expired registration sticker, so they stopped him to investigate at about 6 am March 18.
Police charged Sheahan with driving an unregistered vehicle and with driving while under suspension. Sheahan was released on a promise to appear for an arraignment in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
Jeep Into Stream
Police report that an unidentified male youth, who was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee sport-utility vehicle northward on Walnut Tree Hill Road about 11:55 pm March 17, lost control of the vehicle while on a curve near Shady Rest Boulevard, went off the left side of the road and then landed in a shallow stream.
Police said the youth failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, and driving on the left side of the road.
Police said they held the youth on $500 bail for court arraignment on March 20.
The youth involved in the incident is categorized as a âyouthful offenderâ by police, meaning that he is 16 or 17 years old. Recent state law requires police and the courts to conceal the identities of those arrested who are 16 or 17 years old.
Newtown High School
On March 16, police arrested a 17-year-old male Newtown High School student on a warrant, charging him with first degree threatening and with second degree breach of peace.
Police said the unidentified boy, who is categorized as âyouthful offender,â allegedly left a threatening message on a school desk in mid-February, so police investigated and then sought an arrest warrant.
The youth was scheduled to appear in Danbury Youthful Offender Court on March 31. Under recent state law, police no longer identify youths ages 16 and 17 who are charged with crimes.
DUI Arrest
Police report that at about 10:45 pm on March 19, they spotted motorist Mauricio Pereira, 29, of Danbury failing to keep to the right on South Main Street, so they stopped him to investigate.
After he performed field sobriety tests, police charged Pereira with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and driving without a license.
Pereira posted bail and was released for an April 5 arraignment at Danbury Superior Court.
Highway Crash
State police report that motorist Robert Lawrence, 39, of Hagerstown, Md, who was driving a 1984 Ford van that was towing a trailer, was traveling westward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, at about 8:50 pm March 18, when he lost control of the vehicle and the trailer rolled over.
Lawrence was not injured. State police said Lawrence violated several motor vehicle laws.
Honda Vs Ford
About 8 am March 14, motorist David Stocker, 43, of Oxford, who was driving a 2005 Ford E-350 truck westward on Interstate 84, about one mile east of Exit 9, stopped for traffic conditions, state police said.
Westbound motorist Barbara Coghlan, 63, of Southbury, who was driving a 2005 Honda Accord, then struck the Ford from behind, police said. There were no injuries. State police said Coghlan was following too closely.
Commuter Lot
State police report a two-vehicle accident about 5:30 pm March 14 in the commuter parking lot on Hawleyville Road, near Exit 9 of Interstate 84.
State police said motorist Kyla Miles, 16, of 16 Elm Drive, who was driving a 2000 Toyota Sienna, backed out of a parking space and struck a 2000 Ford Taurus driven by Bob Heffernan, 50, of New Milford. There were no injuries. State police said Miles performed unsafe backing.
100 MPH
State police said they spotted motorist Adam Kilcran, 18, of Ridgefield driving approximately 100 miles per hour near Exit 9 of westbound Interstate 84 at about 1:50 am on March 19, so they stopped him to investigate.
State police arrested Kilcran on a charge of reckless driving. Kilcran was released from custody on $1,000 bail for a March 21 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.
Marijuana
Police said that while investigating an unrelated matter at 3 Sutherland Drive in Sandy Hook about 10:30 am March 19, they then pursued a separate drug investigation there.
Police said they charged Timothy J. Stuart, 20, of 3 Sutherland Drive with possession of drug paraphernalia and Micah T. Bruccoleri, 21, of 11 Palestine Road with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.
Police later released each of the two on $500 bail for April 5 appearances in Danbury Superior Court.
Toddy Hill Road
Motorist Jeffrey Mayone, 23, of Fairfield, who was driving a 1998 Acura sedan southward on Toddy Hill Road, near its southern intersection with Clearview Drive at about 6:13 am March 20, attempted to pass in a no-passing zone southbound motorist Shawn Simmons, 33, of Southbury, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet truck, police report.
As the Acura attempted to pass the Chevrolet, the Chevrolet moved to the left to prevent the Acura from passing, police said.
The two vehicles then collided. There were no injuries. Police said that Mayone attempted to pass in a no-passing zone and that Simmons failed to drive in the right lane.
Honda Hits Tree
About 11:16 pm March 20, motorist Mao F. Lin, 17, of Brooklyn, N.Y., who was driving a 2002 Honda sedan on Wasserman Way, lost control while negotiating a curve in the road and struck a tree, police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene, but Lin refused medical attention, police said. The accident is under investigation.
