Nancy S. Rinaldi, 88, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.. died March 15 at St Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. Mrs Rinaldi was born in Newark, N.J., on November 19, 1917, the daughter of Pasquale and Nicolassa Minichelli Sebastiano. She was the stepdaughter to Maria Evangelista Sebastiano.
Her daughters Nancy Rinaldi and her husband, Anthony Minervini, of Newtown, Joan Cerniglia and her husband, Phil, of Garrison, N.Y., and Judith Scofield and her husband, Peter, of Lagrangeville, N.Y.; her sons William of Poughkeepsie, Richard and his wife, Susan (Shea), of Skippack, Penn., and John and his wife, Janeanne (Harrod), of Santa Barbara, Calif., survive her. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; along with many dear nieces and nephews. Her sisters-in-law Celeste Rinaldi Bettina and Theresa Sebastian survive Mrs Rinaldi, as well.
Mrs Rinaldi graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and Drake Business College in Newark, N.J.
In the 1940s, Mrs Rinaldi served as a Brownie leader for the Girl Scouts organization. She was the former secretary at Mt Carmel Church Rectory in Poughkeepsie for 17 years and was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church and its prayer group. She served in various offices of Mt Carmelâs St Annâs Society and the Motherâs Club.
Mrs Rinaldi was an Avon representative since 1959 and a member of the Avon Presidents Club. She was an active volunteer of the First Saturday Handicapped Club and the Hudson River Psychiatric Center, where she also served as organist in the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel.
She was a member of the Queen City Seniors and Club 62 in the town of Poughkeepsie. She participated in the Heart Health program at Vassar Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 18 at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, Poughkeepsie. Burial followed in St Peterâs Cemetery in Poughkeepsie. The Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc, Poughkeepsie, handled the arrangements.
