Rose Jackman scored 15 points as Aqua Team defeated Paul Anka, 42-32, in the first round of the Senior Girls Basketball League playoffs.

Rachel Eastman and Jen Greenwood also played well for Aqua Team. For Anka, Rachel Maley popped in 10 points while Meagan Kelley added eight points. Olga Virgalla dished off five assists and Marina Virgalla made seven steals.

In other playoff action, Emily Fields canned 16 points and Kristene Salbu dished off eight assists as Team Rupert slipped past the Cornhuskers, 40-38. The ‘Huskers were led by 11-point efforts from Liz LaPerch and Erin Nemeth. Lauren Nemeth, Bryony Langdon and Megan Hansen all played well.

In recent regular season action, Team Solid pounded Team Rupert, 49-22, as Amy Kelley popped in 14 points and Katie Herwig tossed in eight. Kara Whipkey, Beenish Ansari and Tyler Nicoll had good floor games. For Rupert, Kristene Salbu, Bridie Rubino and Lauren Picerno played well.

Erin Nemeth scored 14 points and Lauren Nemeth added eight to lead the Cornhuskers to a 37-26 win over Paul Anka. Rachel Marlin anchored the D. For Anka, Katie Kirrane and Rachel Maley combined for 15 points as Meagan Kelly dished off six assists.

Jen Greenfield scored 16 points and Katie Schmidt had six assists to lead the Blue Bengals to a 34-28 win over Aqua Team. Kelley Sullivan and Rachel Eastman had solid performances. For Aqua, Rose Jackman, Jen Brill and Hannah Tenenbaum played well.
