Wanted: Used Car

In Good Condition

To the Editor:

The Newtown High School PTSA is sponsoring its second annual Post Prom from Friday, May 19, until 5 am Saturday, May 20. This event will provide an alcohol-free safe place and fun environment for our students and their guests following the prom. It is open to all NHS juniors and seniors even if they do not attend the prom.

Do you have a drivable car in good working condition that you are considering selling or trading or do you know anyone who does? Is there a car sitting in your driveway that no longer gets any use? Would you please consider donating the vehicle? Your donation will be tax deductible! The car will be the ultimate raffle item to culminate a fun-filled evening.

After a successful planning night with students and volunteers last Monday, we are hard at work planning many activities and events. The students chose a Mardi Gras/Carnival theme. We are very excited that they are taking ownership in this very important event.

Please encourage your students and their guests to attend the Post Prom in lieu of house parties and driving around town. Also, please take special notice of the new driving law which “prohibits 16- and 17-year-olds from driving between midnight and 5 am unless they are traveling for employment, school, religious or medical-related reasons.” Our event does qualify as school-related.

Please feel free to contact me at 426-4822 or Barbara Manville at bamville123@charter.net if you have any questions or have a car you are willing to donate. We can’t wait to hear from you! Thanks for your support.
