Small Business Workshops Now Available On CD ROM

PUEBLO, COLO. — Anyone who is considering starting a small business can take a virtual course in the comfort of home. An inexpensive package of CD ROMs by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is available from the Federal Citizen Information Center.

Hear lectures from five IRS presenters on the “Virtual Small Business Workshop” CD ROM. Listen as IRS professionals present the reasons why and how to file taxes electronically. The presenters also explain how to get the most out of the IRS small business website.

Get even more information with the “Introduction to Federal Taxes for Small Business Owners and Self-Employed” CD ROM. Taught as if the listener was in a classroom, this CD-ROM uses quizzes, mini lectures and videos to explain how to comply with IRS rules and regulations when starting and operating a small business.

Learn the difference between a sole proprietorship, a partnership, and a corporation, and find out which one is easiest to form. To make sure you have a good understanding of each, and to find out which one is best for you, take the true or false quiz in the “Before I Start My Business” section.

In the “As I Start My Business” section, you can listen to taxpayers ask and get answers to questions such as, “Which business expenses are deductible?” There is also a mini lecture that explains the year-end tax reporting requirements.

Sign up for a virtual course with the Small Business package, which costs $2. There are three ways to get the CD-ROMs:
